Crowns
As their name suggests, a crown sits like a cap on top of your tooth to cover any damages or an implant. With existing teeth, the crown will not only strengthen the tooth but will also improve how it looks. With implants, the crown is used to cover the insertion so that it looks and works like the rest of your teeth.
Crowns
Crowns are great for protecting your root canal treated tooth. When a root canal is performed, the blood circulation to the tooth no longer takes place, making your tooth weak. To protect your tooth we place a crown over the top of it. Learn more with the video.
Bridges
When there’s a gap in your mouth caused by missing teeth (or a single tooth), a bridge will replace the gap. The bridge will also prevent your remaining teeth from shifting out of place. In this simple procedure, the dentist will insert a replacement tooth into the gap, and anchor it to your neighboring teeth. Bridges made of porcelain and ceramic will ensure the colour matches your existing teeth.
How long do bridges and crowns last?
The vast majority of crowns and bridges will last forever. While rare, it’s possible that they can become loose or even fall out. Patients can help to ensure the health of their crowns and bridges by brushing and flossing regularly, and visiting the dentist for cleanings and checkups. It’s also suggested that you avoid chewing hard foods such as ice and candy.
