Partial Dentures
This type of denture sits on a metal frame that affixes to your existing, natural teeth. Basically, they are a removable version of a bridge. Your dentist may place a crown on some of your existing teeth to anchor the partial dentures in place.
Full Dentures
To get the custom fit of full dentures, your dentist will take impressions of your mouth. With full dentures, any existing teeth in your mouth need to be removed first. Then, once your gum tissue has healed, the full set can be placed in your mouth.
Implant-supported Dentures
While regular dentures sit on your gums, this type of denture is attached to implants. Most commonly, they are used on a lower jaw where more support is required. These are essential for patients who don’t have teeth, but have enough bone in their jaw for an implant. Implant-supported dentures can be removed and cleaned on your own.
